~ Maraschino ~

Here's a wee sweet that's really a treat. This little bear is only 7" tall, but with a smile so cheerful, it doesn't seem small at all. I named this little one Maraschino after giving him some brightly painted jingle bell cherries to put in his magnetic paws. There was something frothy and creamy about this wonderful curly matted mohair that reminded me of spun sugar and caramel. This fur is quite long and needed lots of trimming in some areas, and I used up two tones of remaining scraps to make this light fluffy fellow. The lighter shade was used for the inner legs and arms and his gusset, the warmer shade on the outsides as if he was lightly toasted.

Maraschino has mohair paw pads, trimmed short with tiny cathedral style claw stitching to delineate each toe. I placed magnets not only in his hands but also in his head so that he can make cute expressions like "oh me, oh my" or "lemme think for a minute". He also holds his hands together in his lap if you don't put his cheerful metal cherries in them. I painstakingly tweezed the individual strands of hairs away on his toes and hands, muzzle and inner ears, then added shimmery pigment to the areas for depth and to blend the darker backing with the shimmery cotton candy fur. To reiterate his adorable toe stitching as well as the outlining of his rosy single strand floss nose, I outline his ears in black as well. His shiny black eyes have elaborate corded eyelids, with an enamel resin under eye section, giving him a cute almost squinty expressive look. There's even a tiny tiny peek of white at the back corners for realism, although this did not photograph in frontal view and shows in profile once you hold this sweet guy in the palm of your hand.

Maraschino has cotterpin jointing which is looser and makes for nice posing. Because he was too small for a tush tag, he'll come with a heart hangtag and a Certificate of Authenticity proving he's a “One&Only”Bear made by Michelle Lamb, proud to have two TOBY Industry Choice Awards for this year. His price is $400 not including shipping and the drawing will be held Tuesday, April 21st.
